(BPUT) While the College was in its infancy, it was under its mother’s care at Ankuspur (Berhampur). When it grew older it has stood on its own in a 25 acre sprawling plot surrounded by lush greeneries (Lawn, garden & orchard).
The College building has necessary infrastructure (class rooms, Laboratories, Library, toilets, workshop, seminar room conference Hall etc) having the built-up area of 22,000Sqft. The Laboratories/workshops are well equipped as per the guidelines of BPUT syllabus. The library has sufficient number of textbooks and reference books as recommended by the BPUT and Indian/Foreign journals (both old & new issues), periodicals for different departments are also being added in the library every year. The library is kept open for both students & faculties for 10 hrs a day. (From 10AM to 8 PM). Besides the facilities of lending the books, a book bank is also available where the students are facilitated to get the desired books issued in their name for the entire semester with a nominal fee.
The college has adequate number of experienced teachers who impart knowledge to the students as expected by any good student. Teachers are encouraged to pursue higher studies to enrich themselves in the subject. As witnessed by parents, guardians and visitors the students are very disciplined and they work very hard to compete with other students in the global scenario. There is a training & Placement cell to help the students to get trained and master in communicative skill, personality development, group discussion etc. There is a vast playground which has the facilities for games such as Football, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball etc. Our HALL MARK is Discipline and Hard work. Teachers are entirely devoted to students. Teacher-student relationship is very cordial just like parent-child relationship. Teachers are responsible for the overall development of the students.
Thus the Degree Engg. College, SMIT has risen to the occasion of effectively teaching & training the young students in engineering disciplines for the benefit of mankind. We have been trying & shall continue to try our best to achieve a very high academic excellence in order to place each student at high position.
Our motto is “Work is Worship”.
I wish the young students a brilliant career and to face the challenging tasks awaiting them in their Professional life.
